Why Licensing Exists

Decision-First Engineering is not distributed as content. It is issued as a licensed professional framework because its value depends on consistent, responsible application in real working environments. Licensing exists to preserve the integrity of the decision models, protect the clarity of the methodology, and ensure that what is taught, implemented, and practiced under the DFE name remains coherent across engineers, studios, and institutions. This is not about restriction. It is about maintaining a shared standard of judgment. When a DFE License is issued, it signifies authorization to access, apply, and represent the framework within defined professional boundaries — so that the system remains reliable not just today, but across the next generation of recording practice.

I strongly urge you to read the license agreement and contact me if you have any questions regarding its content.

1. Nature of the License

Decision-First Engineering (DFE) is issued as a professional framework license.
It is not sold as transferable property, and it is not granted as unrestricted intellectual material.

A DFE License grants limited, revocable, non-transferable authorization to access, study, and apply DFE frameworks according to the license tier issued.

Issuance of a DFE License signifies recognition of the Licensee as an authorized user of the framework within defined professional boundaries.

2. What Licensees Are Authorized To Do

The Licensee may:

2.1 Professional Use

  • Apply DFE decision frameworks in real-world recording, production, or studio environments

2.3 Citation & Attribution

  • Cite DFE in academic, professional, or industry discussion with proper attribution

  • Reference DFE as a decision methodology when accurately represented

3. What Licensees Are NOT Authorized To Do

Unless explicitly granted in writing by Licensor, Licensees may NOT:

3.1 Redistribution

  • Resell, sublicense, or distribute DFE frameworks or materials

  • Upload DFE documents to public repositories or shared databases

  • Package DFE materials into courses, training products, or commercial education

  • You may not share the password assigned to you with others

3.2 Misrepresentation

  • Represent themselves as creators, owners, or originators of DFE

  • Modify DFE frameworks and redistribute them as derivative systems

  • Use DFE branding, naming, or identity markers in unauthorized commercial offerings

3.3 Institutional or Teaching Use

  • Teach DFE as curriculum without an Institutional or Teaching License

  • Certify others as “DFE trained,” “DFE certified,” or equivalent status

4. Intellectual Property

All DFE frameworks, texts, models, diagrams, terminology structures, and associated materials remain the exclusive intellectual property of the Licensor.

The License grants access and use authorization, not ownership.

5. License Integrity & Standards

DFE Licensing exists to preserve:

  • Decision model clarity

  • Methodological consistency

  • Cross-studio application integrity

  • Long-term reliability of the framework

Licensees agree to represent DFE accurately and in good faith professional context.

6. Revocation

A DFE License may be revoked if the Licensee:

  • Violates redistribution restrictions

  • Misrepresents DFE publicly or commercially

  • Uses DFE in a manner that materially damages framework integrity

  • Uses DFE branding or identity without authorization

Revocation terminates authorization to use licensed materials.

7. Transferability

DFE Licenses are:

  • Non-transferable

  • Non-assignable

  • Issued to a specific individual or entity

8. Updates to Framework or Terms

Licensor may update:

  • Framework materials

9. No Guarantee of Outcome

DFE is a professional decision framework.
It does not guarantee creative, technical, or commercial results.

The Licensee assumes responsibility for application of the methodology.

DFE is intended for serious professional and educational use.

Licensees agree to:

  • Maintain professional integrity in application
